About John W. McCaskill

A Passionate Historian

History has been John’s passion since he was eight years old. He has presented historical interpretations in various time periods including World War II, the Cold War, the American Civil War and the American Civil Rights Movement 1955-1968. 

During the summer of 2015 he developed an eight week curriculum on the topic “From Civil War to Civil Rights” and taught it to interns for an HBCUI program. To authenticate his Living History presentations, McCaskill adorns period dress attire for colonial, USCT, Buffalo Soldier, WWII, Army Air Corps Tuskegee Airmen, and the 1960’s.

He has an extensive personal library of over 2,500 history-related books. He completed an undergraduate degree in history while minoring in music, and he has completed three graduate programs in Military History, American History, and Civil War Studies. He is a member of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences, Golden Key International Honour Society, and the Sabre and Scroll Historical Society

As a popular public speaker, John's presentations have received rave reviews from many of his audiences, including the Army Corps of Engineers- Norfolk Division.
